Hugo Arlabosse

BOSTON (January 25, 2020) -- The story of the day came at Boston University for the Franklin Pierce University men's track & field team on Saturday. Junior Hugo Arlabosse (Marseille, France) punched his ticket to the NCAA Championships for the fourth time in his career, as he hit the NCAA automatic qualifying standard in the 800 meters at the John Thomas Terrier Classic.

Arlabosse turned in a time of 1:49.22 to win the event and lock up his spot at the NCAA Championships. The mark currently ranks as the fastest time in the nation on the season.

Elsewhere at BU for the Ravens, senior Trevor Guay (Londonderry, N.H.) took 13th in the 400 meters, with a run of 48.99 seconds. Sophomore Riley Fenoff (Danville, Vt.) competed in a pair of events, as he placed 65th in the 800 meters (1:57.33) and finished 84th in the mile (4:20.49).

Meanwhile, in Middlebury, Vt., on Saturday, the Ravens placed sixth out of nine teams at the Middlebury Invitational.

The running events went well for the Ravens, despite some of the team's top runners being at BU. Sophomore Ethan Pezzullo (Bristol, R.I.) took third place in the 60-meter dash after a 7.24-second performance. In the 800, junior Antonio Rua (Burrillville, R.I.) ran a 2:05 to take sixth place. Graduate student William Rawson (Atherton, England) ran the 5,000-meter run in 15:16 to take first place. Senior Jason Reed (Foxborough, Mass.) followed him to take seventh place after a 16:11 performance. In the 60-meter hurdles, sophomore Sekou Veillard (Davie, Fla.) took third after racing to a time of 8.92 seconds.

In field events, junior Lo Jackson (Columbia, S.C.) took seventh in the high jump after a 1.75-meter jump. In the pole vault, sophomore Aaron Young (Colchester, Conn.) vaulted 3.95 meters to tie for third place. Meanwhile, sophomore Croix Albee (Trenton, Maine) took sixth in the shot put after a 14.09-meter throw.

The Ravens will be back in action next Friday and Saturday, when they travel to Boston for the NEICAAA Championships.
