LEWISTON, Maine (January 18, 2020) – The majority of the Franklin Pierce University men's track & field team was in the Pine Tree State on Saturday, as the Ravens finished third at the Bates Invitational. Meanwhile, the highlight of the day for Franklin Pierce came all the way at the opposite coast, in the Evergreen State. Junior Hugo Arlabosse (Marseille, France) was the lone Raven in action at the University of Washington, in the UW Indoor Preview, where he hit the NCAA Championships provisional qualifying mark in the 800 meters.

Arlabosse was on the West Coast to run against some elite competition and attempt to punch his ticket to the NCAA Championships. While he did not hit the automatic qualifying mark, he did make himself eligible for NCAA selection by hitting the provisional qualifying standard. Arlabosse's time of 1:51.44 was good for a third-place finish and the time currently ranks sixth in the nation.

Meanwhile, at Bates, the Ravens picked up 90 points on their way to a third-place finish in the four-team meet. Host Bates ran away with the team title by piling up 245 points.

Sophomore Riley Fenoff (Danville, Vt.) highlighted the performance at Bates for the Ravens. He won the mile, with a time of 4:24.09, and also took third in the 3000 meters, with a run of 8:58.48. Fenoff added a second-place finish in the 4x800-meter relay, where he anchored a team which turned in a time of 8:32.26. The remainder of the lineup featured junior Antonio Rua (Burrillville, R.I.), senior Tyler Hayes (Kings Park, N.Y.) and senior Walker John (Boscawen, N.H.).

Fenoff led a trio of top-five finishers in the mile for Franklin Pierce. He was followed by graduate student William Rawson (Atherton, England) in fourth (4:34.78) and senior Jason Reed (Foxborough, Mass.) in fifth (4:38.50).

Elsewhere, the Ravens swept the top three positions in the 600 meters. John led the way in 1:28.8 to win the event, while Rua followed in second (1:29.10) and Hayes took third (1:30.55).

Sophomores Croix Albee (Trenton, Maine) and Aaron Young (Colchester, Conn.) added victories on the day as well. Albee posted a heave of 14.00 meters to win the shot put, while Young cleared 4.00 meters to finish first in the pole vault. Freshman Connor Everidge (Baldwinville, Mass.) added a fifth-place finish in the shot put, with a throw of 12.68 meters.

Elsewhere, sophomore Sekou Veillard (Davie, Fla.) finished second in the 60-meter hurdles (9.08) and junior Lo Jackson (Columbia, S.C.) took fourth in the 60-meter dash (7.45).

The Ravens return to the track next weekend, when they are scheduled to send athletes to both the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University on Friday and Saturday, and the Middlebury Invitational on Saturday.
