NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (February 17, 2019) – Sophomore Hugo Arlabosse (Marseille, France) set a new Northeast-10 Conference Championships record on Sunday, as he laid claim to the league title in the 800 meters, to lead the way for the Franklin Pierce University at the second day of the meet. It was one of seven scoring performances on Sunday for the Ravens, who finished seventh, out of 11 teams. The NE10 Championships were hosted by American International College, on the campus of Smith College.

Franklin Pierce finished the meet with 44.5 points, which left them within 15 points of a top-five finish. At the top of the field, Southern Connecticut State (215 points) claimed its third straight NE10 title, while host American International (96 points) took second and Stonehill (89.5 points) finished third.

Of the 34.5 points Franklin Pierce recorded on Sunday, Arlabosse took care of 10 of them himself, with his NE10 Championships record run in the 800 meters. He stopped the clock at 1:52.08 to win the crown, and also meet the NCAA Championships provisional qualifying standard in the process.

The Ravens added three more top-three finishes on the day. The 4x800-meter relay squad took second place for eight points, as a lineup of freshman Riley Fenoff (Danville, Vt.), junior Tyler Hayes (Kings Park, N.Y.), sophomore Antonio Rua (Burrillville, R.I.) and Arlabosse turned in a time of 7:58.45. Meanwhile, freshman Croix Albee (Trenton, Maine) and junior Trevor Guay (Londonderry, N.H.) turned in third-place finishes in the shot put and 400 meters, respectively. Albee posted a heave of 15.04 meters, while Guay put together a time of 49.34 seconds, which met the NCAA provisional mark. Each performance earned six points for the team.

Fenoff added two points of his own with a seventh-place finish in the mile (4:22.71). Elsewhere, Guay and Arlabosse teamed with freshmen Ethan Pezzullo (Bristol, R.I.) and Devin Jones (Manchester, N.H.) to run the 4x400-meter relay in 3:28.04, to finish seventh and pick up two more points.

Senior Robert Boardman (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) tacked on a half-point to round out the scoring, courtesy of a tie for eighth-place finish in the high jump, by clearing 1.74 meters.

The Ravens are back in action on Sunday, Feb. 24, when they travel to Boston University for the BU Last Chance Meet, which – as the name implies – is the final opportunity to post marks to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
