Men’s Track & Field Sixth After First Day of NE10 Championships

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (February 16, 2019) – The Franklin Pierce University men's track & field team got a trio of scoring performances on Saturday and is squarely in the middle of the pack after the first day of the Northeast-10 Conference Championships, hosted by American International College, on the campus of Smith College.

Franklin Pierce finished the day with 10 points, which currently leaves the team sixth of the 11 teams at the meet through the first day. Southern Connecticut State led the way at the end of competition Saturday, with 86 points. Host AIC followed in second, with 30 points, and New Haven was in third, with 25 points.

Franklin Pierce's biggest performance of the day came from junior Jason Reed (Foxborough, Mass.) in the 5000 meters. He posted a time of 15:34.77 to finish fourth and pick up five points.

The distance medley relay team added four more points, with a fifth-place finish. The lineup of freshman Riley Fenoff (Danville, Vt.), junior Trevor Guay (Londonderry, N.H.), junior Tyler Hayes (Kings Park, N.Y.) and sophomore Hugo Arlabosse (Marseille, France) turned in a time of 10:23.55.

The Ravens' remaining point of the first day came from freshman Aaron Young (Colchester, Conn.) in the pole vault. Young got up and over 3.82 meters in his NE10 Championships debut, to finish eighth.

The NE10 Championships will conclude on Sunday at Smith College.
