Franklin Pierce men's track & field

BOSTON (February 2, 2019) – Sophomore Hugo Arlabosse (Marseille, France) and junior Trevor Guay (Londonderry, N.H.) both picked up All-New England accolades in the 500 meters on Saturday, at the second day of the NEICAAA Championships, for the Franklin Pierce University men's track & field team. The rest of the Ravens were in action at Plymouth State, for the Panther Invitational, where they finished fourth, out of 11 teams.

Arlabosse and Guay both qualified for the 500-meter final on Friday, when Arlabosse claimed the school record in the event, only to have Guay snatch it back moments later. Arlabosse would have the last laugh this weekend however, as he put together the higher finish in the final. Arlabosse took fourth in 1:04.20, while Guay was seventh in 1:04.85.

In all, Franklin Pierce picked up seven points at the NEICAAA Championships to finish in a tie for 19th, out of 27 teams.

Meanwhile, the rest of the squad was at Plymouth State, for the Panther Invitational, where the Ravens collected 72.5 points to finish fourth. Franklin Pierce posted one event win and 10 top-five finishes on the day.

The win came via the arm of freshman Croix Albee (Trenton, Maine), who posted a heave of 14.56 meters to win the shot put.

Albee was one of four Ravens to tally a top-five finish in a field event on Saturday. Freshman Aaron Young (Colchester, Conn.) took second in the pole vault (3.85m), senior Robert Boardman (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) finished third in the high jump (1.75m) and freshman Ishmael Johnson (Lynn, Mass.) placed third in the triple jump (12.86m).

Franklin Pierce's six remaining top-five finishes came on the track, across a variety of distances. Junior Jason Reed (Foxborough, Mass.) took second in the 5000 meters (16:14.25), followed by sophomore Cody Tallent (Bellows Falls, Vt.) in third (16:21.83). Elsewhere, freshman Ethan Pezzullo (Bristol, R.I.) finished third in the 60-meter dash (7.27), junior Tyler Hayes (Kings Park, N.Y.) took fourth in the mile (4:36.13) and sophomore Antonio Rua (Burrillville, R.I.) placed fifth in the 800 meters (2:09.39).

The Ravens also added a fifth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay. A lineup of Hayes, junior Walker John (Boscawen, N.H.), Rua and Reed turned in a time of 3:42.93.

Still elsewhere on Saturday, freshman Riley Fenoff (Danville, Vt.) took part in the men's junior race at the USA Track & Field Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Fla., where he finished 38th, out of 51, with an 8k time of 27:05.

The Ravens return to the track on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 8-9, when they travel to Boston University for the David Hemery Invite.
