Men’s Track & Field Claims Two Titles, Sits Fourth After First Day of NE10 Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (May 4, 2018) – Graduate student Dage Minors (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda) chalked up his 19th and 20th career Northeast-10 Conference titles on Friday, to lead the way for the Franklin Pierce University men's track & field team on the first day of the Northeast-10 Championships, hosted by Southern Connecticut State at Jess Dow Field.

Through the first day of the two-day competition, the Ravens have collected 25 points and sit fourth, out of 11 teams to score. Host SCSU leads the way with 76 points, and the Owls enjoy a 35-point lead over second-place American International, with 41 points. Stonehill is third, with 34.5 points.

The vast majority of Franklin Pierce's points on Friday came via the pair of NE10 titles the Ravens captured. Individually, Minors claimed his 19th career NE10 crown and picked up 10 points for the team by laying down a time of 3:54.12 to win the 1500 meters.

Minors would follow up by anchoring the 4x800-meter relay team to the title as well, to secure his 20th career league championship. A lineup of freshman Hugo Arlabosse (Marseille, France), to graduate student Jon Holmes (Albany, N.Y.), to senior Joshua Ercolini (Woburn, Mass.), to Minors turned in a time of 7:36.87 to take first place and pick up another 10 points.

The Ravens' remaining five points came via sophomore Jeff Reddy (Chester, N.H.). He put together a run of 32:59.17 to finish fourth in the 10,000 meters.

In addition, Franklin Pierce has already locked up some points on Saturday, as senior Nicholas Jacques (Westfield, Mass.) has qualified for the final of the 100-meter dash. He qualified in seventh, with a time of 10.92 seconds, which was good enough for third place in the third of four preliminary heats.

The Northeast-10 Championships wrap up on Saturday at SCSU.
