Men’s Track & Field Finishes Fifth at Silfen Invitational
NEW LONDON, Conn. (April 14, 2018) – Sophomore Jack Ehrhardt (Point Pleasant, N.J.) finished off a win in the decathlon on Saturday to lead the way for the Franklin Pierce University men's track & field team on the second day of the Silfen Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College. The Ravens, who were the defending champions at the meet, had nine scoring performances on the day to finish fifth among 19 teams which scored at the meet.
The Ravens collected 73 points in their fifth-place finish at the meet. Tufts piled up 129 points to claim the title over second-place Stonehill (110.5 points). Coast Guard rounded out the top three with 88 points.
Ehrhardt notched 10 points for Franklin Pierce with the win in his decathlon debut. The sophomore added wins in the decathlon editions of the javelin (48.75m) and the 1500 meters (4:51.43) on Saturday on his way to 5703 points in the two-day event.
Six other individuals scored for the Ravens on Saturday, including four who did so out on the track. Freshman Hugo Arlabosse (Marseille, France) finished sixth in the 400 meters (50.52) for three points, senior Nicholas Jacques (Westfield, Mass.) placed fifth in the 200-meter dash (22.41) for four points, junior Jaris Neville (Atlanta, Ga.) was eighth in the 100-meter dash (11.19) for one point, and freshman Colin Stoddard (Charlton, Mass.) took fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (57.37) for five points.
Meanwhile, junior Robert Boardman (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) and senior Rindal Pierre-Canel (Randolph, Mass.) scored in field events for the Ravens. Boardman picked up three points with a sixth-place finish in the high jump (1.83m), while Pierre-Canel grabbed five points with a fourth-place leap in the long jump (6.15m).
Two relay teams also collected points for Franklin Pierce, as the 4x100-meter squad finished fifth for four points and the 4x400-meter quartet placed seventh for two points. In the 4x100, sophomore Gerald Leith (Dorchester, Mass.), Jacques, sophomore Jebediah Hogan (Gloucester, Mass.) and senior Daniel Warner (Windham, N.H.) got the baton around the track in 43.62 seconds. In the 4x400, a lineup of Stoddard, senior Joshua Ercolini (Woburn, Mass.), Arlabosse and Jacques turned in a time of 3:29.84.
The Ravens return to action on April 17-18, when select participants head to the Holy Cross Multis in Worcester, Mass.
