Delahanty Clears Season Best in Pole Vault, Men’s Track & Field Notches Three Wins at Pride Classic Invitational

WESTON, Mass. (April 27, 2014) – Freshman John Delahanty (Long Beach, N.Y.) posted his highest mark of the season to win the pole vault on Sunday for the Franklin Pierce University men's track and field team at the Pride Classic Invitational, hosted by Regis. It was one of three wins for the Ravens on Sunday afternoon, as well as one of two in field events.
Delahanty cleared a height of 4.02 meters, which currently ranks fifth in the Northeast-10 Conference. Franklin Pierce also picked up a win in the javelin, where sophomore Chris Bohi (Loudon, N.H.) posted a throw of 55.82 meters. Also of note in field events on Sunday for the Ravens, sophomore Sharaj Prince (Roseau, Dominica) recorded a throw of 36.11 meters in the discus to finish second.
On the track, Franklin Pierce went one-two in the 1500 meters, as freshman B.J. Smith (Concord, N.H.) ran a 4:04.90 to win, while sophomore Makopa Rugabirwa (Concord, N.H.) clocked a 4:07.79 to finish second. In the 3000-meter steeplechase, freshman Dylan Crowley (Woburn, Mass.) finished third with a time of 10:13.06, which currently ranks ninth in the Northeast-10.
The Ravens return to the track on Friday, May 2, for the first day of the Northeast-10 Championships, to be hosted by Stonehill in Easton, Mass.
