HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • It took until late in the first half with about 2:30 for the Ravens to strike first. Graduate forward Aaron Sanchez (A Coruna Spain), cruised past a defender, creating a one-on-one with the keeper. He then tucked it in with a beautiful strike off his right foot and into the right corner, gifting the Ravens the 1-0 lead. The Ravens took that 1-0 lead into the halftime break.

  • The Ravens buried the dagger late in the second half with just 1:30 remaining. Sophomore forward Andy Chisholm (Little Compton, R.I.) came streaking on the right wing and dished a gorgeous pass to junior midfielder Antonio Lima (Lisbon, Portugal) who fired a laser off his right foot into the left corner, securing the 2-0 win for the Ravens.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:

  • The Ravens outshot the Owls 15-2.

  • Graduate goalkeeper Karl Vernet (Miami, Fl.) recorded the shutout in net for the Ravens, recording 1 save.

  • The Ravens took 7 corner kicks compared to 2 from the Owls.

  • The Owls committed 9 fouls compared to 6 from the Ravens. The game was extremely chippy as the Owls received 3 yellow cards and 3 red cards, and the Ravens received a yellow card.

NEXT UP FOR THE RAVENS: The Ravens will travel to New Haven, C.T. on Wednesday afternoon to battle the New Haven Chargers in the Northeast-10 semifinal round. Kickoff is still TBD.
