HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • It only took 12 minutes for the Ravens to pick up right where they left off from last season. Graduate midfielder Borja Blazquez (Toledo, Spain) carried it himself in the box and slotted a ball beautifully in the left corner to give the Ravens the 1-0 lead. The goal was his first in a Ravens uniform.
  • From that point forward, the Ravens controlled possession and would not relinquish their lead.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:

  • The Ravens outshot the Purple Knights 10-3. It was a struggle for the Purple Knights to gain any offensive possession.

  • Karl Vernet (Miami, Fl.) picked up the shutout, only having to make 2 saves.

NEXT UP FOR THE RAVENS:

The Ravens travel to Queens, N.Y. on Saturday to square off against the Knights for a non-conference affair. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
