Bernardo Prego Receives NE10 Men's Soccer Sport Excellence Award
MANSFIELD, Mass. – For the fall season, a total of seven student-athletes received recognition from the Northeast-10 Conference as Sport Excellence Award winners on Thursday afternoon, honoring their achievements from both the playing field and the classroom.
Per the official announcement by the league offices, junior defender Bernardo Prego (Evora, Portugal) was named the recipient of the prestigious honor for men's soccer, becoming the 14th Raven to ever do so. From a program standpoint, Prego is the 2nd consecutive men's soccer player to receive the award (3rd all-time), following in the footsteps of previous winner Carlos Ferrando Felis (2021).
During the 2023 season, Prego started in 25 contests for Franklin Pierce, tallying six points (0-6-6) while serving as a centerpiece to the Ravens second-ranked defense in the nation (.346 goals against average). Following their Northeast-10 Championship win, Prego additionally received the conference's Elite 24 Award, and was named to the CSC Academic All-District team, D2CCA All-East Region Second Team, and NE10 All-Conference First Team.
From the classroom, Prego majors in Business Marketing and holds a 3.73 cumulative GPA.
Bernardo Prego was able to enjoy a near-perfect season with Pierce in 2023, in which the team went 25-0-1 to claim the NE10 Conference Championship, the NCAA East Regional Championship, and the NCAA National Championship crowns.
