RINDGE, N.H.  (October 23, 2019) – The Franklin Pierce University men's soccer team used two goals in the first half to win a 3-0 game against Northeast-10 Conference opponent the University of New Haven Wednesday evening on Sodexo Field. With the win, the crimson and grey move to 9-3-1, 7-2 NE10 while the Chargers fall 4-7-1, 2-5-1 NE10.

Pierce, winners in seven of their last nine games improve to an unblemished 6-0 on Sodexo Field. They also regained control of the second seed in the NE10 following a Bentley setback earlier in the afternoon.

Raven senior goalkeeper Jadel Poon-Lewis (Diego Martin, Trinidad & Tobago) earned his fifth start in the cage of the year and stopped one shot to move to 4-0 on the year. He tallied his third shutout of the season and 15th of his FPU career. On the season, Poon-Lewis has allowed only one goal, which is good enough for a 0.24 goals-against average.

FPU struck for the match opening score in the fifth minute as Javier García Borrás (Alzira, Spain) dribbled through the box and a plethora of defenders for the left foot top left shelf marker. 16 minutes passed until the Ravens cashed in a give and go through ball as junior midfielder Josep Silvestre Pitarch (Eslida, Spain) dished the rock to classmate, Antonio Ferreira (Madrid, Spain) for the insurance goal.

Junior forward Yannik Felber (Vallendar, Germany) capped off the three goal effort touching home a ground cross to complete the shutout.

The Pierce backline held their counterparts to only two shots in the game compared to the Ravens 18 total shot attempts. Stefano Lorusso took the loss and made seven saves in the defeat.

The men's soccer team returns to the pitch on Saturday for a conference showdown with Stonehill College set for 4:00 p.m.
