Bio

Shaun Millerick will enter his sixth season as the head coach of the Franklin Pierce University men's ice hockey team in 2022-23. He spent the 2016-17 academic year as an assistant coach with the team and as an Assistant Director within the University's Admissions office. Through five seasons as the bench boss in Rindge, Millerick has posted a 42-66-8 (.397 winning percentage) record over 116 games at Franklin Pierce. For the 2020-21 and 2021-22 academic years, Millerick also served as the Department of Athletics' Community Service Coordinator.

The 2021-22 campaign opened on a rough note, with the Ravens dropping their first seven games, but the crimson and grey rebound to post an 8-9-2 mark the rest of the way. It was a sixth-place finish in the Northeast-10 Conference for Franklin Pierce, which meant a first-round date on the road at Assumption in the NE10 Championship. Unfortunately for the Ravens, the Greyhounds were able to exact some revenge for their 2020 overtime loss in the semifinal round, and dealt the Ravens a 4-3, overtime loss, despite a 40-save outing from Ian Wallace in his collegiate finale. Conor Foley was an All-NE10 First Team pick after a 14-18-32 campaign. Wallace was named to the NE10 Academic All-Conference Team.

The Ravens played just six games, all of which were non-conference affairs in 2020-21 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In just his third season as head coach, Millerick led the Ravens to one of the most successful seasons in program annals in 2019-20. A 16-12-4 mark established a new program for wins for the second year in a row, while an 8-7-3 record in Northeast-10 Conference play sent Franklin pierce back to the postseason for the first time in seven years. A dramatic, 4-3, overtime victory over top-seed Assumption in the semifinal round sent the crimson and grey through to the NE10 title game for just the second time in program history (2013), though the Ravens came up just short of their first NE10 title with a 3-1 loss to Stonehill. Following a 40-point senior campaign (18-22-40), Alex Lester became just the fourth player in NE10 men's ice hockey history to earn back-to-back NE10 Player of the Year awards. Lester would wrap up his Franklin Pierce career as the program's all-time leader in goals, assists and points, and became the team's first-ever 100-point scorer (45-57-102). Lester landed on the All-NE10 First Team as well, while Millerick took home NE10 Coach of the Year honors and Conor Foley landed on the NE10 All-Rookie Team after a 22-point debut season (10-12-22).

The 2018-19 season -- just Millerick's second on the bench -- saw the Ravens reach double digits in wins for the first time in program history, as the squad posted a 10-15-1 mark, including a 5-9-1 record in Northeast-10 play. The Ravens had another program first as well, as Alex Lester became the first player in program annals to earn NE10 Player of the Year honors, after leading the league in scoring (10-19-29) in his junior season. In addition, goaltender Kyle Martin landed on the NE10 All-Rookie Team after a strong showing as the team's top backup netminder.

Millerick's debut season as head coach saw the Ravens chalk up seven wins in 2017-18. It marked the final go-around for Tom McGuckin, who finished as one of the most decorated goaltenders in program history. McGuckin earned All-Northeast-10 Conference Second Team honors in his senior campaign, as well as NE10 Academic All-Conference accolades. At the end of the academic year, McGuckin was named as the Walter Peterson Male Senior Student-Athlete of the Year for the University, becoming the first men's hockey player to earn the award in school history.

Millerick, who enters his first collegiate coaching job at Franklin Pierce, was a four-year member of both the ice hockey and baseball teams at Becker College, and is the son of Frank Millerick, Becker's Assistant Vice President/Director of Athletics. Millerick served as a team captain for both squads as a senior. Over his career on the ice with the Hawks, he appeared in 31 games as a goaltender, posting a 3.89 goals-against average, a .884 save percentage, and an 8-12-2 record.

After graduating in 2014 with a degree in business administration, Millerick spent two more years at Becker before transitioning to Franklin Pierce. From 2014-16 at Becker, he served as an Admissions Representative, assistant men's ice hockey coach and assistant baseball coach.
