Cornele Cornele contributed three assists last week on his way to a Weekly Honor Roll selection.

RINDGE, N.H. (January 31, 2012) – Junior defenseman Tyler Cornele (Cape Coral, Fla.) and sophomore goaltender Dave O'Brien (Groton, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University men's ice hockey team have been named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Jan. 29, as announced Monday by the Conference office.

The Ravens went 1-0-1 last week, with Cornele dishing out three assists along the way. On Tuesday night, he assisted on a pair of second-period goals as Franklin Pierce skated to a 3-3 tie at Stonehill. On Saturday night, Cornele added a helper on the first Ravens goal of the night, which tied the game at 1-1 with 7.2 seconds to play in the first period, before Franklin Pierce went on to a 4-2 victory.

It is the first career Weekly Honor Roll selection for Cornele, who was named Northeast-10 Player of the Week earlier in the season (Nov. 20).

O'Brien played every minute of both games between the pipes for the Ravens and piled up 78 saves in the process. On Tuesday at Stonehill, he stymied 43 of the 46 shots sent is way, but received only a tie for his effort. On Saturday night, he made 35 saves against 37 shots to defeat Assumption. For the week, O'Brien wound up with a 2.50 goals-against average and a .940 save percentage.

It is the second Weekly Honor Roll selection for O'Brien this season (Nov. 20), and the third of his career. He was also named Northeast-10 Goaltender of the Week earlier in the season (Dec. 11).

The Ravens return to the ice tonight, when they travel to Saint Michael's for a Northeast-10 Conference contest. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Cairns Arena in South Burlington, Vt. Franklin Pierce next plays at home on Saturday, Feb. 4 against Stonehill at 7:30 p.m.
