Golf Finishes 11th in Loaded Field at AIC-Adelphi Intercollegiate Classic
Freshmen Brad Auclair and Sean Shepard each tie for 38th place
PUTNAM, Conn. (October 22, 2012) -- The Franklin Pierce University golf team carded a two-round score of 624 (+56) to finish 11th out of 13 teams in a loaded field at the AIC/Adelphi Intercollegiate Classic this weekend at the Connecticut National Country Club in Putnam, Conn.
Adelphi won the tournament as the Panthers shot a blistering 16-over-par, 584, for the two rounds. Holy Cross finished runner-up as the Crusaders fired a 593 (+25) for the tournament.
Senior co-captain Ian Landry (Loudon, N.H.) led the way for the Ravens as he tied for 13th out of 68 golfers with a two-round total of 149 (+7). He shot an impressive two-over-par, 73, in Saturday's first round and followed with a solid 76 (+5) in Sunday's final round.
Freshmen Brad Auclair (Cumberland, R.I.) and Sean Shepard (Griswold, Conn.) both tied for 38th with identical scores of 157 (+15). Auclair fired an impressive five-over, 76, in the final round, while Shepard was steady throughout both rounds by shooting in the high 70s.
Junior Adam Spencer (Jericho, Vt.), fresh off winning medalist honors two weeks ago at the FPU Fall Invitational #2, tied for 55th at the Classic with a score of 164 (+22). He rebounded from a tough first round by carding a 77 (+6) in the second round.
Sophomore Stew Wise (Angiers, N.C.) was the fifth
Raven to compete in the tournament as he placed 59th with a
23-over, 165.
Franklin Pierce returns to action this weekend when the Ravens close out their fall season by competing in the NEIGA Championship, held at The Captains Course in Cape Cod, Mass. The two-round tournament will begin on Sunday and conclude on Monday.
