Franklin Pierce Finishes 10th at NE-10 Championship

Sheldon paces Ravens with 21st place finish

SYRACUSE, N.Y.  (September 22, 2003) - The Franklin Pierce men's golf team placed tenth over the weekend at the 2003 Northeast-10 Conference Championships, hosted by Le Moyne College, at Drumlins East Golf Course.

Freshman Mat Sheldon (Wolfboro, N.H./Kingswood Regional) paced the Ravens with a two-day score of 155 (77-78) at the 6,213-yard, par 71, layout, to place 21st overall. Senior Mike Smith (Hanover, Mass./Hanover) followed up an opening round 76 with an 82 on Sunday to fall to 28th overall. Classmate Alex Hodgman (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) posted a two-day score of 163 (82-81) to round out the Ravens top three scorers.

Bryant College took the team title with a 585 two-day score to finish four shots ahead of Bentley College (589) and host Le Moyne (603). Franklin Pierce completed the event with a 648 team score. Southern New Hampshire University's Jeff Sullivan (Bedford, N.H./Manchester West) earned medallist honors with a two-day total of 142, rallying from four shots back after Saturday's round with a 67 on Sunday.
