Bryant Takes Franklin Pierce Invitational
Spoehr paces Bulldogs with 81 to earn medallist honors
JAFFREY, N.H. (April 29, 2004) - Bryant College out-distanced the field by 20 strokes to win the Franklin Pierce Invitational at The Shattuck on Wednesday afternoon.
Sophomore Matt Spoehr led Bryant as he carded an 81 to take medallist honors at the five-team event. Teammate Brenden Smith placed second with a round of 83. The Bulldogs posted a 341-team score to finish ahead of Worcester Polytechnic Institute (361) and Stonehill College's club team (373) in the top three.
Franklin Pierce placed fourth with a 377-team score. Senior Mike Smith (Hanover, Mass./Hanover) led the Ravens with an 89. Classmate Jon Butler (Cheshire, Mass./Hoosac) was next for Franklin Pierce with a round of 93.
Franklin Pierce returns to the links on Wednesday, May 5, when it participates in the Worcester Polytech Shootout at Holden Hills CC at noon.
