HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Ravens got off to a slow start. Sean McCarthy makes a layup within the first minute for the Hawks, sparking a 6-0 start. The Ravens countered with a jump shot and a 3-point jump shot by Ja'Keese Kemp (Lakeland, Fl.) to put the game within 1 point. The Ravens continued their surge by going on a 22-13 run, having a 27-19 lead. Saint Anselm climbed back into the game, going on an 11-2 run capped off by McCarty's layup. As the Hawks are down by 1 before the half ends, McCarthy gets sent to the line and hits both free throws to take the lead, 34-33.

  • The Ravens and Hawks opened the 2nd half right where they left off. Going back-and-forth with each other with Jadon Archer following a McCarthy layup with another, having a 5-point lead. The Ravens quickly answer with Saeer Miller (Philadelphia, PA) hitting a 3-point jump shot and a Kemp layup. With 11 minutes remaining, Kemp drills another 3-point jump shot to take the lead for the Ravens, 54-53.  Donte Pope (Middletown, Conn) slams a dunk to keep the Ravens in the lead with just over 10 minutes to go but gets a technical foul called on him following the dunk. After that, the Ravens start to lose momentum, and the Hawks come soaring with a 39-15 run. After Saeer Miller made a free throw to make it 58-56, it was the last lead the Ravens would hold. Josh Morrissette gets fouled and makes both free throws to tie it, followed by a Juju Ramirez 3-point jump shot that gets things rolling. The Ravens started shooting beyond the arch more and could not convert the 3-pointers, creating more possessions for Saint Anselm. The Hawks secured the win as they held on to it, 95-73.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:

  • The Ravens shot 69.2% from the free throw line (18-for-26), and the Hawks shot 74.2% (23-for-31).

  • Donte Pope led the Ravens with 20 points.
