Men's Basketball: Ravens Fall Behind in Second Half; Fall to SCSU 77-63

RINDGE, N.H (2/24/2024) -- A one point game at halftime on senior day slipped away form the Ravens Saturday afternoon as the team fell to Southern Connecticut State University, 77-63.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• In the first half, it was all about defense, and both teams traded baskets as the Ravens held on to a 30-29 lead heading into halftime.
• Southern Connecticut State controlled the second half as they outscored Franklin Pierce 48-33. In the final ten minutes, the Owls took care of business and prevailed past the Ravens to win 77-63.
• Junior forward Ja'Keese Kemp (Lakeland, FL) led all scorers with 22 points. He shot 8 for 16 from the field, grabbed five rebounds, and had four steals. Junior Guard Dwayne Robinson O'Hagen (Woonsocket, RI) had 11 points and shot 5 for 9 from the field.
• For the Owls, sophomore forwards Cherif Diarra and Kazell Stewart had double-doubles. Diarra had 15 points and 17 rebounds. He was 6 for 7 from the field and 3 for 6 from the free-throw line. Stewart had 21 points and 14 rebounds. He was 7 for 15 from the field.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:
• Franklin Pierce shot 34% from the field (24 for 71). SCSU shot 45% from the field (30 for 67)
• Franklin Pierce shot 29% from behind the arc (6 for 21). SCSU shot 21% from behind the arc (3 for 14).
• Franklin Pierce shot 64% from the free throw line (9 for 14). SCSU shot 58% from the free-throw line (14 for 24).
• Southern Connecticut State had 54 points in the paint, 51 rebounds, and 19 second-chance points.
• The Ravens had 23 points off turnovers.
