GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (March 1, 2020) – The no. 9 regionally-ranked Franklin Pierce University men's basketball Temple Hills, Maryland tandem of Isaiah Moore (Temple Hills, Md.) and Doyin Fadojutimi (Temple Hills, Md.) carried the Ravens to a 76-74 victory in the Northeast-10 Conference Quarterfinals Sunday afternoon against no. 10 regionally-ranked Adelphi University at the Center For Recreation and Sport.

With the win, the Ravens (16-11) advance to the NE10 Semifinals and travel to Saint Anselm College (18-8) for a 7:00 p.m. bout on Wednesday night. The loss ends the Panthers season at 18-11. Adelphi had two chances for the game-tying bucket with one second to go, but both of their layup attempts were heavily contested at the rim.

Moore, who has been virtually unguardable over the past month exploded for a career-high 29 points with 18 coming in the second half. The sophomore point guard played a team-high 35 minutes, was 10-for-14 (71.4%) from the hardwood, 3-of-6 (50%) from beyond the arc and 6-for-7 (85.7%) at the line. Moore dished out a contest-best six assists, came down with three rebounds while having a steal and a block.

Fadojutimi struggled with his shot, however, it did not matter as he still got his. He chipped in 22 points, a team-high six boards, three assists, two steals, and two blocks. Maxwell Zegarowski (South Hamilton, Mass.) was the third leading scorer on the Ravens with eight markers, four rebounds and one block in 26 minutes off the bench.

For Adelphi, Ronnie Silva battled early foul trouble as he played only eight minutes in the first half. He completed the game with a team-high 21 points and attempted only six three-pointers making three of them. Silva came into this game ranking fourth in Division II in three-point conversions and second in three-point attempts.

The Ravens outshot their opponents by 9.1% hitting on 49.1% (28-of-57) of their shot attempts. They also were the better three-point team cashing home 37.5% of their trifectas compared to 25% for Adelphi, who as a team was the top three-point scoring team in the nation.

On Adelphi's first possession, Jameson Pierrelus (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) drew a charge of Silva giving the ball back to the Ravens. Fadojutimi then galloped through the paint for a deuce opening up the scoring. The teams traded points back and forth until Moore dished the rock to Pierrelus and he buried a triple from the top of the point giving the Ravens a 9-6 edge. On the Ravens' next trip down the court, Falu Seck (Washington, D.C.) made a sweet dish from the baseline to Moore open on the wing for three giving the Ravens their first two-possession lead 12-8.

Holding a 14-8 margin, Adelphi came within two as they pumped in the next four markers. Pierce responded when Brandon Kolek (Cumberland, R.I.) rifled a catch and shoot three on the right-wing re-upping the advantage to 17-12. Adelphi dropped their deficit back down to one, 17-16 when Tim Delaney converted a one-handed floater in the lane. An 8-2 Raven spurt with long-range connections by Sean Fasoyiro (Houston, Texas) and Zegarowski established a 27-20 Raven score with 4:42 left before the break. Adelphi would bring it two a two-point game two minutes later off a Silva three, but Pierce poured in six straight to end the half to lead 33-25.

Adelphi was 1-for-15 (6.7%) shooting from deep in the first half while the Ravens came in at 5-for-20 (25%) efficiency.

Spencer Foley started the second half with a three-ball for the first points of the new stanza. Following that make, the Ravens lead expanded to 12 points off the strength of a 9-2 outburst. Good ball movement resulted in a Fadojutimi three-pointer from the left corner and the run was capped when Seck went up and under for a reverse layup moving the score to 42-30.

Chris Coalmon quickly put the score into the single figures that was until Sean Bresnan (Yonkers, N.Y.) connected on a three on the right-wing. On the next possession, Fadojutimi stripped Coalmon by the Adelphi bench and went the other way for the highlight reel windmill slam for the Ravens' largest lead of the game 47-34 at the 16:13 mark. Over the next three minutes of play, the Panthers took their first lead off a 16-2 binge jumping ahead 51-50 when Coalmon connected on a right corner three while being fouled. He made the free chance for the slight Adelphi advantage.

Pierce would go on an 8-2 mini-run of their own to open up a two-possession edge 57-52 via a Moore hoop and harm minus the freebie and a Moore long-range bomb. Minutes later Seck drained a three on the wing putting Pierce up seven, 62-55. The Panthers once again regained the slim lead their final of the game, 65-64 via a 10-2 spurt ending with a Dwaine Williams steal to full-floor lay-in.

The half of runs continued as the Ravens again seized the lead right back with an 8-2 binge started by a Moore triple and concluding off a Fadojutimi right corner three at the 4:25 mark making it 72-67. The Ravens last field goal of the game happened with 3:31 to go when Fadojutimi drained a mid-range jumper making it a 76-69 game.

The Panthers pitched in the final five points of the game with a Foley wing trey cutting into the deficit at 76-74 with 45 seconds to go. The crimson and grey held the ball for their last shot taking the clock all the way down to 18 seconds, however, a three was off the mark. Adelphi rebounded the ball, pushed it up the floor and called a timeout. After the stoppage, five seconds remained as Silva took the ball into the paint and his layup missed and the possession was kept alive by Williams. He fed Coalmon who's layup attempt from the restricted area would not fall giving the Ravens the two-point tournament win.

Both squads fared better from range in the second half, but the Ravens were 7-of-12 (58.3%) on triples and 16-for-24 (66.7%) shooting total over the final 20 minutes.
