Five Former Men’s Basketball Players Named East-Region All-Decade by D2 East Hoops

RINDGE, N.H. (February 24, 2020) – Five former Franklin Pierce University men's basketball players have been chosen to the first-ever Division II D2 East Hoops All-Decade team for the 2010s it was announced Friday on their website. Eric Jean-Guillaume '13 and Ellis Cooper '14 highlighted the Ravens selections with Second Team nods.

Jean-Guillaume and Cooper were joined by three Ravens who were chosen as honorable mention selections, Ryen Vilmont '15, Donte Gittens '17 and Mike McDevitt '18.

Jean-Guillaume, a two-time All-American (2011-12, 2012-13), two-time All-Region player (2011-12, 2012-13) and two-time Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year (2012 & 2013) guided the Ravens (24-9, 16-6 NE10) to the Elite 8 in the 2012-13 season following an East Regional Championship with a 57-52 win against the University of Bridgeport on March 19, 2013. He finished his Raven career with 1,595 points, eighth-most all-time, 241 steals, third-highest in program history and 396 assists.

Cooper rounded out the Second Team choices for FPU. A three-time All-East Region (2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14) player including a First Team selection in 2013-14 also a three-time NE10 All-Conference Choice (2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14), Cooper was also a Regional Champion during his junior year. He completed his collegiate career with 1,503 career points, 11th in program history, 704 career rebounds (7th in program annals), 211 career steals (5th) and 74 career blocks. In 14 career postseason games, Cooper came to play averaging 18.1 points per game and 8.3 rebounds.

Vilmont was a two-time NE10 Second Team (2013-14, 2014-15) athlete and a 2011-12 selection to the NE10 All-Rookie Team. He completed his Raven career with the fourth-most points all-time in program history (1,742). He also snagged 679 rebounds (10th all-time) and blocked 112 shots (6th). Vilmont, an exceptional free throw shooter, set the single-season program record in 2013-14 going 90.4% (103-of-114) from the charity stripe. He was a sophomore during the Ravens Regional Championship season.

Gittens earned NE10 All-Conference Third Team honors twice (2015-16, 2016-17) and was a 2013-14 All-Rookie Team honoree. The two-time team captain out of Hartford, Conn. was a solid contributor on both sides of the ball. He tallied 1,311 points (20th all-time) over his four year Raven career with 551 rebounds (21st), 479 assists (5th) and 181 blocks (3rd). Gittens made the NCAA Tournament his freshman season in 2013-14 (21-8, 15-6 NE10) and started in the Ravens one-point win, 66-65 over Philadelphia University (Jefferson) and came up with a clutch steal late in the game.

McDevitt, the final honorable mention choice was All-Conference Third Team in 2017-18 and Honorable Mention in 2016-17. He scored 1,336 career points (18th all-time), gobbled up 556 boards (17th) and blocked 101 career shots (8th). He reached the NE10 Championship in two of his four seasons (2015-16, 2016-17) in his sophomore and junior year. In the 93-80 setback to the College of Saint Rose in the NE10 Championship Quarterfinals on February 26, 2017, McDevitt scored a team-high 19 points, snagged four rebounds and blocked two shots in the defeat.

Franklin Pierce (15-10, 10-8 NE10) wraps up their regular season schedule tomorrow on the road at NE10 foe Assumption College (13-12, 7-11 NE10) with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m.
