EASTON, Mass. (December 4, 2019) – The Franklin Pierce University men's basketball program hit the road for their first game after thanksgiving break Wednesday evening and they suffered an 84-65 setback to Northeast-10 Conference opponent Stonehill College. With the win, the Skyhawks improve to 5-4, 3-2 NE10 and the loss sends Pierce to 3-3, 1-2 NE10.

Senior guard Doyin Fadojutimi (Temple Hills, Md.) carried the crimson and grey on offense with a team-high 14 points on 4-of-8 (50.0%) shooting including two triples and three rebounds. Sophomore guard Brandon Kolek (Cumberland, R.I.) came off the bench to score a season-high 12 points. Sophomore forward Maxwell Zegarowski (South Hamilton, Mass.) matched a personal-best with eight points on 3-of-6 (50.0%) shooting while Falu Seck (Washington, D.C.) and Sean Fasoyiro (Houston, Texas) racked up eight points each.

For Stonehill, Will Moreton was a force notching a 25 point, 10 rebound double-double shooting 9-of-14 (64.3%) from the hardwood and 5-of-8 (62.5%) from beyond the arc. Moreton was one of four Skyhawk starters in double-figures as Owen Chose tacked on 18 points of his own with four triples.

As a team, Stonehill outrebounded the Ravens by eight and scored 23 second-chance points compared to the Ravens seven. The Skyhawks doubled up FPU in the paint 40-to-20 and scored 30 points off their 20 turnovers. However, Pierce held the edge in bench scoring 35-to-14.

Freshman forward Sean Bresnan (Yonkers, N.Y.) started things off for FPU connecting on a trifecta giving them the early 3-0 advantage. Stonehill countered with nine consecutive points to lead 9-3 at the 16:07 mark. A Seck hoop and harm brought the Raven deficit down to three, 9-6 two possessions later. The three-point edge remained until six straight Skyhawks markers gave them a nine-point, 17-8 lead.

Freshman forward Matt Hofrenning (Minneapolis, Minn.) checked into the game and corralled a Zegarowski feed and knocked down a trifecta bringing it down to a two-possession game, 17-11. A 20-8 Stonehill spurt capped off by a Moreton three-ball grew their lead to a first-half high 18, 37-19 with 2:17 left before the intermission. Kolek tallied five points including a buzzer-beating three-pointer to put FPU down 40-26 at the half.

A 10-4 second-half opening stretch put Stonehill ahead 50-30. A trey from Zegarowski coupled with a Seck freebie and another Zegarowski bucket dropped the Raven margin to 14, 50-36. Moreton then kicked off a 12-2 Stonehill binge with him accounting for 10 of those 12 points to push his squad in front 62-38 halfway through the stanza. Two Kolek free throws cut into the Raven deficit at 62-43, but a Josh Mack three gave the Skyhawks their biggest lead of the game 69-43 with 7:35 to go. They kept a 20+ point advantage for the remainder of the duel.

FPU returns home for the first game of a three-game home swing this Saturday, December 7th against Bentley University (7-1, 2-0 NE10) at 3:30 p.m.
