Moore Double-Doubles, Ravens Bully Tigers 82-65

SPRINGFIELD, Mass (November 10, 2019) – The Franklin Pierce University men's basketball team behind a balanced scoring attack captured their first win of the season, an 82-65 victory to non-conference opponent Holy Family University at the final day of the AIC Tournament in Springfield, Mass. With the win, the crimson and grey even up their record at 1-1 while the Tigers fall to 0-2 on the season.

Sophomore guard Isaiah Moore (Temple Hills, Md.) secured a game-best 10 rebounds – three offensive. He dished out five assists, two steals and poured in 11 points for his first-ever double-double. Senior Doyin Fadojutimi (Temple Hills, Md.) scored a team-high 15 points hitting on half (6-of-12) of his field-goal attempts including three triples in six attempts. He also grabbed seven rebounds and was one of five players with more than seven. Fadojutimi is 19 points away for 1,000 in his career.

Senior Jameson Pierrelus (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) put in 14 points with seven boards and three assists. He was perfect at the free-throw line (6-of-6). Newcomer Sean Bresnan (Yonkers, N.Y.) tallied 12 points with seven rebounds while shooting 4-of-8 (50%) and draining 3-of-4 (75%) three-point attempts.

Team captain Falu Seck (Washington, D.C.) had an all-around game scoring six points, corralling eight rebounds and handing out five dimes. Off the bench, Sean Fasoyiro (Houston, Texas) and Brandon Kolek (Cumberland, R.I.) tallied nine points apiece.

For Holy Family, Vincenzo Dalessandro produced a game-high 20 points. Branden Aughburns and Eric Esposito had 11 points each.

As a team, Pierce feasted by outrebounding their counterparts 54-to-27. On offense, they out produced the Tiger 14-to-3 on boards which resulted in more second-chance points (15-to-4). They shared the ball amassing 22 assists on their 25 field-goal conversions.

FPU started the game on a 7-1 run. Bresnan converted and up and under second-chance layup, Seck drove the lane for a deuce and Moore found Fadojutimi in the corner for a triple. Their run expanded to 11-1 following a Pierrelus one-handed floater and a Kolek dribble in jumper on the right elbow. Kolek then drained a three-ball from the corner to grow the edge to 14-1 with 13:01 left to play in the half.

Daniel Fleming brought the deficit down to 10, 19-9 for Holy Family when he connected on a right-wing trifecta. Over the next few possessions, the Ravens went on a 12-3 spurt, using nine points from Moore, three from the line with two corner triples and Kolek's second trey of the half to lead 31-12 over the Tigers. The teams traded points and the Ravens eventually led by 16, 40-24 at the intermission.

Pierce killed their opponents on the boards in the first half outrebounding them 31-to-13 with eight of their 31 boards coming on the offensive end.

Fadojutimi kicked off the second half slashing from the top of the point for the hoop and harm. He missed the free throw as the Ravens led 42-24. He then answered Brendan Hoban's three with one of his own from the right corner. Up 20, 52-32, Bresnan converted back-to-back treys to push Pierce ahead 58-32, his threes were part of 15-3 scoring binge. A Kolek freebie opened up a 30 point, 64-34 advantage with 12:13 left.

Still holding a 30 point, 68-38 lead, HFU would not go away exploding for a 16-0 run with nine points off the shot Dalessandro to bring the margin down to 14, 68-54. With 2:31 left, Fadojutimi reestablished the Ravens 20 point lead and iced the game for their first win of the season.

Franklin Pierce remains away from campus this coming Saturday, November 16th at Goldey-Beacom College with tip-off at 2:00 p.m.
