This Franklin Pierce University men's basketball recap is presented by Belletetes

MANCHESTER, N.H. (February 6, 2019) – Franklin Pierce University men's basketball freshman guard Isaiah Moore (Temple Hills, Md.) scored a team-high 17 points during a 96-64 loss to Northeast-10 Conference opponent and no. 17 nationally-ranked Saint Anselm College Wednesday evening at the Stoutenburgh Gym. With the victory, the Hawks move to 17-3, 13-2 NE10 and the setback evens the Crimson and Grey's mark to 11-11 and sends them to 7-8 in league play.

Moore connected on 6-of-12 (50%) of his field goal attempts and snared three boards and dished out a team-high three assists in the defeat. He was joined by Falu Seck (Washington, D.C.) and Jeremy Arthur (Westbury, N.Y.) in double figures as the duo scored 11 points apiece.

All five starters scored in double digits for the host Hawks as they were led by Gustav Suhr-Jessen and Cody Ball who tallied 18 markers each. Suhr-Jessen came down with eight rebounds – six offensive while Ball grabbed six caroms and dished out four assists. Miles Tention manufactured 15 points in 28 minutes off the bench for Saint Anselm.

Saint Anselm did most of their damage on the fast break outscoring the Ravens 20-to-4. They also outproduced them in the post (44-to-30) and off turnovers (25-to-19)

Seck opened the game for the Ravens hitting a wing three-pointer to give his team the early edge. Both squads traded buckets until a Lolami Lola-Charles (Aberdeen, Md.) second chance floater and a Seck left slash unwrapped a three-point, 9-6 Raven lead. FPU followed with two fast-break layup misses, but they still held a slim 11-8 lead six minutes into the battle.

Four consecutive Raven turnovers resulted in a 13-2 Hawk scoring binge capped off by a Tention trifecta gave the home team a 21-13 advantage. Moore halted the run by draining two at the charity stripe until an Alonzo Jackson two-handed baseline dunk and a Tention take to the rack reestablished the 10 point lead.

After a Raven timeout trailing 25-15, sophomore guard Sam van Oostrum (Sheffield, England) and sophomore guard Sean Fasoyiro (Houston, Texas) attacked the basket strongly for two points apiece dropping the Pierce deficit to six, 25-19. The Hawks responded with eight consecutive points of their own, two Tim Guers free throw conversions, a Tention corner three and another Tention three-ball this time from the left wing to lead 33-19. Seck ended the run by burying a jumper, but the spurt expanded to 12-2 when Guers went to the line again for a deuce and he followed that with a coast-to-coast take to up the margin to 37-21 with 4:54 left before the break. The Hawk lead grew to as many as 18, but they headed into the half up 17 markers.

The Ravens shot only 37.5% from the floor in the first half compared to the Hawks 54.5% efficiency.

SAC came out of the locker room fast on a 12-2 run to open up a 59-32 lead when Chris Paul split two attempts at the line. Pierce freshman guard Brandon Kolek (Cumberland, R.I.) halted the run hitting a three-pointer off a David Bradbury Jr. (Deep River, Conn.) feed. Moore followed making two of two at the stripe dropping the margin to 59-37 at the 14:49 mark. 10 straight Saint Anselm points grew the margin to a game-high 32, 69-37. The Ravens kept battling with nine consecutive of their own capped off by another Kolek trey making it a 69-46 contest with 9:49 left to go. Saint Anselm built the lead back up and never looked back.

The Ravens return to The Fieldhouse on Saturday when they welcome Saint Michael's College to campus for a 3:30 p.m. conference duel.
