This Franklin Pierce University men's basketball recap is presented by Belletetes

RINDGE, N.H. (February 2, 2019) – Franklin Pierce University men's basketball graduate student Lolami Lola-Charles (Aberdeen, Md.) tallied the first double-double of his collegiate career during an 81-62 win at the hands of Northeast-10 Conference opponent American International College Saturday afternoon at The Fieldhouse. With the win, the Ravens climb into fourth place in the NE10's Northeast Division as they sit at 11-10 overall and 7-7 in league play while the Yellow Jackets fall to 9-13, 5-9 NE10.

The Crimson and Grey now head back to inter-division play after going 5-2 against their out of division counterparts. The Ravens trail second-seeded Merrimack College by two games and hold a one-game lead over Southern New Hampshire University for the fourth seed.

Lola-Charles was two points away of his previous career-high of 12 and set a new personal-best with 10 boards. He scooped up a game-high five on the offensive end and blocked two shots in 21 minutes of play while shooting an efficient 4-of-6 (66.7%) from the hardwood. He was one of four Ravens in double figures.

Junior guard Falu Seck (Washington, D.C.) paced all scorers with a game-best 21 points to go along with six boards, three assists, and one theft. Teammate Jeremy Arthur (Westbury, N.Y.) turned in 18 points of his own finishing 5-of-8 (62.5%) from the floor and 4-of-5 (80%) from beyond the arc. Sam van Oostrum (Sheffield, England) finished with 10 points on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting. Team captain Doyin Fadojutimi (Temple Hills, Md.) snared 10 rebounds, dished out five dimes and came up with four steals in the win.

Three AIC athletes scored in double digits as Adonis Williams racked up 11 points, four rebounds, and one steal. The Ravens severely outrebounded their opponents by a 51-to-31 margin and came down with 15 offensive caroms that led to 18 second-chance points. Their defensive until also locked down the Yellow Jacket long-range game in the second half (1-for-11, 9.1%).

FPU took their first lead 7-6 when van Oostrum curled to the right off a screen and knocked down a right-wing trey at the 14:26 mark. Eight in a row by AIC, two Jordan Vidal three-pointers that sandwiched an Andrew Anderson outlet one-handed jam grew the Yellow Jacket advantage to 14-7. Arthur willed the Ravens back within two points connecting on a second chance left wing three-ball with 11:08 to go before the break.

With the American International lead hovering around two possessions a solid out of bounds play let senior guard David Bradbury Jr. (Deep River, Conn.) fire a wing trifecta making the deficit three, 25-22. Seven consecutive points by AIC opened up their highest lead and the first double-digit advantage of the game 32-22 with 4:35 until intermission. A 13-2 Raven run starting with a Fadojutimi three and ending with a Seck mid-range step back jumper gave Pierce a 35-34 margin. Isaiah Salter stopped the spurt and Lola-Charles split a pair of free throws to deadlock the score at the intermission.

Lola-Charles came out of the locker room and put the team on his back. He started with a one-handed floater in the restricted area, followed that shot up with a second chance lay-in after a missed three and capped off the Ravens 8-0 opening run by jamming a two-handed dunk via a Fadojutimi pass to push Pierce ahead 44-36. Salter brought the margin to six, 46-40 at the 15:30 mark until Seck dumped in a right-wing three and used an up and under fast break score to give the Ravens their first double-digit lead, 51-40.

The Ravens pushed in front by 20 on the strength of a 15-2 run when van Oostrum drove strongly through the left side for an and1 attempt, however, he missed the free throw. On the next Raven possession, an offensive rebound found freshman guard Brandon Kolek (Cumberland, R.I.) and he immediately passed the rock to van Oostrum for the top of the key three-pointer upping the score to 58-44. Isaiah Moore (Temple Hills, Md.) ended the binge via a layup giving the Ravens a commanding 66-46 lead with 9:16 left. A Fadojutimi layup with 2:19 to go contributed to the Ravens largest lead of the contest, 79-55.

The Ravens head out on the road to cross state conference opponent and no. 20 nationally-ranked Saint Anselm College for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off on Wednesday, February 6th.
