Field Hockey Tripped up at Molloy, 2-0

SEAFORD, N.Y. (10/09/24) - The Franklin Pierce field hockey team struggled to generate offense on Wednesday afternoon, in a 2-0 loss to Molloy on the road. The Ravens were held to just eight shots attempts, including six shots on goal, while Molloy uncorked 16 shot attempts including 10 on goal.  

RECORDS:  

  • FPU: 1-10 (1-5 NE10)  

  • MOLLOY: 2-8 (1-5 NE10)  

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • The Lions opened the scoring in the 19th minute. Gianna Mastrocco was able to bang home her first goal of the season on a feed from Devin Harkins.  

  • The Ravens would attempt a comeback in the second quarter with four shots in the period with three on goal.  

  • The Lions tabbed on another goal in the 49th minute on a contribution from Harkins once again. Harkins crossed the ball from the right side to find Catherine Amini.  

  • Once again, the Ravens responded in the following quarter with three shots on goal in the fourth quarter alone.  

IN BETWEEN THE LINES:  

  •  Senior goalie Addy Araneo (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) would make eight saves in goal. 

  • The Lions would outshoot the Ravens 16-8.  

  • The Ravens would have 7 penalty corners to the Lions' 15.  

UP NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: The field hockey team will return to New York for the second time this week when they travel to STAC. The game is set for Saturday, October 12 at 2 PM.
