Field Hockey: Falls to SNHU, 3-0, at Home

RINDGE, N.H. (09/25/24) - The Franklin Pierce field hockey team hosted the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University on Wednesday night for an NE10 conference game. The nationally ranked Penmen overcame the Ravens 3-0.  

RECORDS:  

  • FPU: 0-7 (0-2 NE10)  
  • SNHU: 5-1 (2-0 NE10)  

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • The Ravens held the Penmen off in the first period with crucial saves by goalkeeper Zoe Noorlag (Amersfoort, Netherlands). Junior Olivia O'Brien (Upton, Mass.) also contributed a defensive save to keep the Ravens alive.  

  • The Penmen broke the tie in the 24th minute when SNHU's Annemartine Christis took the ball and found Zoe Demers who returned it back to Christis for a goal. 

  • It took less than a minute into the third quarter for the Penmen to make it 2-0. On a penalty corner, that started with Eliza Bates, ended up with Bates finding the back of the goal.  

  • To finish out the third, Bates would find Christis for the 3-0 lead.  

INSIDE THE LINES:  

  • The Penmen outshot the Ravens 15-4.  

  • Noorlag contributed eight saves in net while O'Brien had two defensive saves.  

  • The Penmen had four penalty corners to the Ravens one.

Franklin Pierce continues NE10 play at home when they host the Owls of Southern Connecticut on Saturday at 12 PM.
