Field Hockey: Ravens Dealt Loss at Southern, 3-1

NEW HAVEN, CONN. (09/18/24) - The Franklin Pierce field hockey team traveled to Southern Connecticut University on Wednesday afternoon, falling in non-conference action to the Owls, dropping a 3-1 contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • The game was scoreless through the first half before Keana Criscuolo broke through midway through the third quarter.  

  • Less than three minutes in the fourth quarter, Trinindad Rodriguez Ricchiuti sent a ball through a cluster of Ravens to Kate Salvador's stick for a 2-0 lead.  

  • Natalia Fiato made it 3-0 off a corner in the 48th minute.  

  • The Ravens broke through less than a minute later when Rebecca Phillips (West Amwell, N.J.) was awarded a penalty stroke which she was able to convert on.  

BETWEEN THE LINES:  

  • Goalkeeper Zoe Noorlag (Amersfoort, Netherlands) saw nine shots and made six saves.  

  • The Owls outshot the Ravens 18-12.  

  • The Ravens had five corners to the Owls'eight.  

UP NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: The Ravens return to New Haven, Connecticut this Saturday when they face the Chargers of University of New Haven. The game is set for 7 PM.
