NFHCA North/South Senior Game Rosters

Bird Bird becomes the 11th player in school history selected to the NFHCA North/South Senior Game.

RINDGE, N.H. (November 9, 2012) – Senior midfielder Megan Bird (Laconia, N.H.) of the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team has been selected to represent the North Squad at the National Field Hockey Coaches Association North/South Senior Game, as announced by the NFHCA. The game is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. at Cushing Field on the campus of the University of Massachusetts Lowell, host of the national semifinals and National Championship game, also held this weekend.

Bird, a co-captain with Franklin Pierce, will join 16 of her Northeast-10 Conference brethren for an all-star game against the South Squad. It is the third straight season the Ravens have sent a representative to North/South Senior Game, with Beth Haight '12, Kim Jaksina '12 and Tia Levins '12 all making the trip a year ago. Bird becomes the 11th selection to the contest in program history.

A contributor at both ends of the field, Bird finished second on the team in scoring in 2012, tallying nine points on two goals, including one overtime game-winner, and five assists. In the final game of her career, she recorded two assists to tie and then break the program record for career assists, establishing the new high-water mark at 15 assists and surpassing Danielle Dolan '12. Bird also leaves the program with the school record for assists in a season, set in 2011 when she had eight helpers.

Bird missed only one game in her four seasons with the Ravens, in her senior season due to injury. She started in the midfield in every game she played in over her junior and senior campaigns.
