No. 7 Stonehill blanks Franklin Pierce, 4-0

Skyhawks break school record with eight straight wins

EASTON, Mass. (October 15 , 2005) – The Franklin Pierce field hockey team suffered a tough loss, 4-0 to Stonehill College, ranked No. 7 in this weeks STX/NFHCA Division II National Coaches Poll, in Northeast-10 conference action this afternoon at W.B Mason Stadium this afternoon. The host Skyhawks set a school record with their eighth straight victory dating back to September 14th.

Stonehill College senior captain Julie Michalos (Norwood, Mass./Norwood) notched her sixth goal of the season, giving the Skyhawks the only goal it would need with18:38 remaining in the first half. Junior All-America Kelly Latendresse (Sidney, Maine/Messalonskee) and sophomore Caitlin Gleason (New Boston, N.H./Goffstown) each chipped in with a goal and an assist a piece.

Freshman Kerri Sullivan (Goffstown, N.H./Goffstown) rounded out the scoring for Stonehill, scoring her fifth goal of the season with 7:18 remaining in the match off a feed from Courtney Campbell (Reading, Mass./Reading).

Franklin Pierce junior goalkeeper Amanda Pietraszuk (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan School) stopped 13 shots for the Ravens, while sophomore Dani Ryder (Gloucester, Mass./Tantasqua) stopped two shots for Stonehill.

Fr anklin Pierce (5-10, 3-9 NE-10) will be in action again tomorrow, as it travels to Saint Anselm College for a match starting at 3 p.m. Stonehill College (12-2, 10-2 NE-10) will host Southern Connecticut State University tomorrow for a match starting at 1 p.m.
