RINDGE, N.H. (September 10, 2005) – Franklin Pierce suffered a tough 1-0 overtime loss to Bryant University in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey action at Sodexho Field this afternoon.

Junior forward Michaela Dwyer (Buskirk, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) netted her first goal on the season with 1:12 remaining in the first overtime period. Dwyer took a pass from a penalty corner, dribbled near the net, and fired a shot into the back of the goal to secure the win for Bryant.

Franklin Pierce junior goalkeeper Amanda Pietraszuk (Clinton, Conn. /The Morgan School) was solid in net stopping seven shots for the Ravens, while junior Kasey Kortz (Louisville, K.Y/St. Francis) registered her first shutout of the season, stopping six shots for Bryant.

Franklin Pierce (1-4, 1-4 NE-10) will be in action on Wednesday, when it travels to Saint Michael’s College for a game at 4 p.m. Bryant (3-3, 2-2 NE-10) will travel to Bentley College on Thursday for a game at 7 p.m.
