Football Falls Short in Granite State Game, 42-28

RINDGE, N.H. (11/02/24) - Franklin Pierce University's football team faced off against Saint Anselm in the 2024 Granite State Game. Despite a valiant second-half effort, the Ravens ultimately fell 42-28.

Records: FPU 4-4 (4-2 NE10), Saint Anselm 5-3 (5-1 NE10)

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • Saint Anselm took an early lead with two touchdown passes from Drew Forkner to Andrew Edwards in the first quarter, putting the Ravens down 14-0. In the second quarter, Franklin Pierce responded when Adrian Parker (Manchester, Conn.) connected with Jahmir Dixon (Philadelphia, Penn.) on a 10-yard pass to close the gap to 14-7. However, Saint Anselm extended their lead before halftime with three more touchdowns, including a 42-yard bomb to Will Twadell, leaving the Ravens trailing 35-7 at the break. 

  • The Ravens rallied in the second half. Reimello Hyde (Nashua, N.H.) broke free for a 17-yard rushing touchdown, and Parker threw a 14-yard touchdown to Austyn Howe (Newington, Conn.), making the score 42-21. In the fourth quarter, Alex Benitez (Belle Meade, N.J.) powered through the defense for a 4-yard touchdown run, bringing Franklin Pierce within two scores. 

INSIDE THE LINES:  

  • Parker finished with 252 yards and two touchdowns on 23 completions, 

  • Hyde led the Ravens' rushing attack with 74 yards and a score.  

  • Benitez contributed with 64 yards rushing and another touchdown. On the receiving end, Joziah Gonzalez (Meridan, Conn.) stood out with 108 yards on seven catches. 

UP NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: The Franklin Pierce football team continues their home stretch as they return to Sodexo Field next weekend for their senior day celebration. Kickoff is set for 1 PM against Bentley.
