Ravens Earn Hard Earned Split Against Wilmington on Friday Night

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (2/21/2025) – After a tough 19-1 loss for the Franklin Pierce Ravens baseball team against the Wilmington Panthers, they responded with a hard fought 1-0 win in extra innings to earn the split on Friday night in non-conference play.

Game 1:
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Wildcats struck first in the top of the 1st inning, scoring on a wild pitch to take a 1-0 lead.
- The top of the 2nd inning didn't treat the Ravens kindly. The Wildcats piled it on with 6 runs to take a commanding 7-0 lead, highlighted by a 2-RBI single to left field.
- The Ravens got a run back in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Redshirt sophomore catcher Brycen Tetler (Plymouth, Mass.) singled up the middle to score senior second baseman Kiobel Lugo (Boston, Mass.) to cut the deficit to 7-1.
- The Wildcats responded with 4 runs in the top of the 3rd inning to extend their lead to 11-1, highlighted by an RBI triple to left field to score a run.
- The Wildcats then added another run in the top of the 4th inning and 2 runs in the top of the 5th to take the 14-1 lead.
- 2 more runs followed from the Wildcats in the top of the 7th inning to put them up 16-1.
- The Wildcats then padded their big lead in the top of the 8th and 9th innings with a run each to go up 19-1.
BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:
- The Wildcats outhit the Ravens 14-4.
- Both teams committed 3 errors.
- Redshirt freshman Matt Lee (Pittsfield, Mass.) started for the Ravens and suffered the loss. He pitched one and two thirds' innings, giving up 4 hits, 7 earned runs, walking 3 batters, and striking out 5 batters.
Game 2:
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Game 2 proved to be a pitcher's duel between the Ravens and the Panthers. Ravens junior pitcher Kyle Salvati (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) delivered a phenomenal performance on the mound. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 2 hits, no earned runs, walking 3 batters, and striking out an incredible 12 batters. Redshirt senior Sean Sean Foody (Orangeburg, N.Y.) came in relief and delivered a solid performance pitching 4 innings, allowing no hits, no earned runs, striking out 4 batters and earning the win.
- After a long 9 innings, the Ravens struck first in the top of the 10th inning. Kiobel Lugo rifled a single to left field to score senior outfielder Elias Meredith (Philadelphia, Pa.) to give the Ravens the 1-0 lead in extra innings. A lead they would not relinquish and would earn the split against the Panthers on Friday night.
