NE10 Academic All-Conference Teams
RINDGE, N.H. (April 6, 2017) – Franklin Pierce University has had three student-athletes earn Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference honors for the winter season, as announced on Thursday by the Conference office. Junior Danielle Crawford (Lowell, Mass.) of the women's track & field team, along with junior forward Jonathan Haun (Buffalo, N.Y.) and senior defenseman Alex Schleper (Sutton, Mass.) of the men's ice hockey team, were all honored by the league. The selected Ravens were among 67 student-athletes across seven sports honored by the Northeast-10.
To be eligible for selection to the Academic All-Conference Team, a student-athlete must fulfill each of the following criteria: (1) participated in at least half of the team's competitions as a starter or significant contributor, (2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale), and (3) completed at least one academic year at his/her current institution. The teams are chosen by the vote of a committee of athletic administrators and Faculty Athletic Representatives. In addition, one honoree in each sport is selected as the NE10's Sport Excellence award winner in that sport.
For Haun, it is the second straight selection to the Academic All-Conference Team. Both Crawford and Schleper earned the NE10 honor for the first time in their respective careers.
Haun is in his sixth semester as a Raven and has put together a 3.77 GPA as an accounting-finance major. He has been selected to the NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll for each semester he has been eligible. On the ice this year, Haun played in all 25 games and was the team's leading scorer, with 20 points on nine goals and 11 assists. He was named to the All-NE10 Second Team.
Crawford is also in her sixth semester in Rindge, carries a 3.75 GPA as an elementary education major and has also been a fixture on the Commissioner's Honor Roll. This winter, she qualified for the NEICAAA Championships in the 500 meters, where she finished 14th (1:20.80), while also representing the Ravens as a member of the 4x800-meter relay team, which finished 14th as well (10:03.40).
Schleper is wrapping up his eighth and final semester at Franklin Pierce, and currently sports a 3.71 GPA as a health sciences major. He has been named to the Commissioner's Honor roll in each semester he has been on campus. A three-year team captain, Schleper played in all 25 games for the crimson and grey this winter and finished with 11 points on four goals and seven assists to earn All-NE10 Second Team honors.
