168 Student-Athletes Named to Fall 2010 Northeast-10 Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll

Baseball is the top men's team with 33 honorees, while Field Hockey is the top women's team with 16 honorees

COMPLETE LIST OF FRANKLIN PIERCE STUDENT-ATHLETES NAMED TO THE HONOR ROLL

RINDGE, N.H. (February 14, 2011) -- Franklin Pierce University recently had 168 of its student-athletes named to the Fall 2010 Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll. The 168 student-athletes came from 15 teams on the Rindge campus that compete in the Northeast-10.

On the men's side, the baseball team led the way for all teams with 33 of its student-athletes being named to the honor roll. The women's team with the highest number of honorees was the field hockey squad, which posted 16 of its members on the academic list.

Six other Raven teams produced double-digit honorees on the academic honor roll, including men's lacrosse (19), men's soccer (16), women's soccer (14), softball (14), ice hockey (12) and women's basketball (11).

The other Franklin Pierce teams to be recognized on the honor roll included women's lacrosse (9 honorees), volleyball (8 honorees), women's cross country (6 honorees), golf (5 honorees), women's tennis (5 honorees), men's tennis (4 honorees) and men's basketball (3 honorees).

Six student-athletes produced perfect 4.0 grade point averages during the semester, including women's soccer's Christina Curnias (Wethersfield, Conn.), women's cross country's Melissa Dymek (Hubbardston, Mass.), women's tennis' Natasha McCarthy (Rindge, N.H.), softball's Meaghan O'Neal (Littleton, Mass.), men's soccer's Sjors Van Velzen (Heerlen, Netherlands) and volleyball's Pamela Walker (Chino Hills, Calif.). Sixty-three (63) student-athletes earned GPAs ranging from 3.5-to-3.99, while 99 student-athletes earned GPAs ranging from 3.0-to-3.49(.)

To be eligible for selection to the Northeast-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded a minimum 3.0 semester grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during the fall '10 semester.
