John “Boo” Jackson Named Head Coach of Franklin Pierce Golf Programs
RINDGE, N.H. (11/19/24) - The Franklin Pierce University Department of Athletics is excited to welcome John "Boo" Jackson as the new Head Coach of the men's and women's golf programs. Jackson brings an impressive background in competitive play, collegiate coaching, and golf operations, making him a standout addition to the Ravens.
"We are excited that John Jackson has agreed to serve as the next golf coach (men and women) at Franklin Pierce University," Matt Johnson, the Interim Athletic Director says. "What became clear, during the interview process, was John's positive energy and his passion for recruiting and teaching the game of golf. John asked all the right questions and seemed genuinely grateful for this opportunity."
Jackson comes to Franklin Pierce from American International College, where he quickly expanded the roster and led the team to a remarkable 5th-place finish at the 2024 NE10 Championship—far exceeding pre-season expectations. His background also includes prestigious roles as a golf professional and director at Crumpin-Fox Club and GreatHorse, two of the top courses in Western Massachusetts, where he administered over 150 tournaments, including USGA Qualifiers and Mass Golf Championships.
Throughout his career, Jackson has competed in over 100 professional events, securing multiple top 10 finishes in NEPGA, Tri-State PGA, and CTPGA tournaments. He is a member of the select few who passed the PGA Playing Ability Test on his first attempt—a notable accomplishment achieved by less than 20 percent of players.
Jackson's mentorship under golfing legends like former PGA President Jim Remy and Tri-State PGA Hall of Famer John Mazza has greatly enriched his approach to coaching. In addition to his coaching and playing achievements, Jackson's expertise in golf business operations has strengthened corporate partnerships with institutions such as the University of Massachusetts and MGM Springfield, a background that will be invaluable in fostering new opportunities for the Franklin Pierce golf program.
"It is a great honor to become part of the Franklin Pierce community and begin the next chapter for the Raven golfers" John says. "The foundation is incredibly strong, and I am eager to build on that with a focus on positivity and implement a growth mindset among the team. My deepest appreciation is extended to Matt Johnson and the search committee for this opportunity. The Raven has officially become my favorite bird, and I can't wait to get to work!"
Jackson's breadth of experience and vision for the future promise to make an enduring impact on the Franklin Pierce golf programs, positioning them for success on both the regional and national stage.
