RINDGE, N.H. (August 27, 2009) -- The Franklin Pierce University Department of Athletics has been featured in Thursday's edition of The NCAA News for its "Pierce Pride" initiative. The article focuses on several Division II institutions which have taken proactive steps towards embracing the Division II Game-Environment Recognition Program. Entering it's second year, the
"Pierce Pride" program is an effort by the Department of Athletics
to foster campus- and community-wide support for both Athletics and
Franklin Pierce University as a whole. The program seeks to help
connect the campus and the community with the university's 17
intercollegiate athletics programs and, in turn, allow the
athletics programs to give back to the community.
Pierce Pride Kickoff 2009 is set for Friday, Sept. 4 at Sodexo
Field, as the Franklin Pierce women's soccer team hosts Florida
Southern at 4 p.m., followed by the men's soccer team taking on
Bridgeport at 7 p.m. Prizes, promotions and giveaways will be held
throughout the day and the evening will be capped with a fireworks
display at the conclusion of the men's soccer game, courtesy of
Atlas Pyrotechnics.
