RINDGE, N.H. (February 18,
2010) – The Franklin Pierce University Department of
Athletics had 150 student-athletes selected to the Northeast-10
Conference Fall Commissioner’s Honor Roll, as announced
Wednesday by the conference office. To be eligible for selection to
the Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have posted at least a 3.0
grade-point average during the fall 2009 semester. The 150
student-athletes who were honored represent 50.2% of the
university’s 299 eligible student-athletes. In addition, nine
Franklin Pierce athletes recorded perfect 4.0 grade-point averages
last semester.
"I applaud the dedication and commitment these young men and women
have exhibited to their academics as well as their abilities on the
field of play," said Bruce Kirsh, Vice President and Director of
Athletics at Franklin Pierce. "Our faculty and coaching staff takes
great pride in this honor as well, and I personally thank them for
their commitment to the University's academic mission."
Among Franklin Pierce’s honorees were senior back
Rachel Smith (Chichester, N.H.) and junior forward
Angelika Johansson (Falkenberg, Sweden) of the
women’s soccer team, who were both Academic All-America
selections by CoSIDA/ESPN: The Magazine in November. Also honored
by the Northeast-10 were senior forward Johannah Leedham
(Ellesmere Port, England), junior guard Cynthia
Gaudet (Coventry, R.I.) and junior center Tori
Ahrens (East Greenwich, R.I.) of the women’s
basketball team, after each was an Academic All-District selection
by CoSIDA/ESPN: The Magazine earlier this month.
