Women’s Cross Country Places 17th at UMass Dartmouth Invitational

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (September 21, 2019) -- The Franklin Pierce University women's cross country competed at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday. First across the line for the Ravens was junior Marissa Farago (Salisbury, Mass.), who took 47th out of 263 runners. She finished with a time of 19:51 for the 5k race.

Next was sophomore Alana Thompson (Westampton, N.J.), who finished in 20:21 to land a 73rd-place finish. Junior Lauren Stankiewicz (Naugatuck, Conn.) took 92nd for her 20:41 finish, with senior Julia Cormier (Northwood, N.H.) shortly behind. Cormier took 118th with her 20:59 race.

Freshman Nadia Cathcart (Hyde Park, N.Y.) landed 127th after she finished in 21:08, to round out Franklin Pierce's scoring five. Senior Rebecca Zylak (Goffstown, N.H.) took 144th with her 21:29 finish.

Finishing up for Franklin Pierce was junior Marisa Carbone (Scarborough, Maine), who was 170th for her 22:00 time in the race.

The Ravens fought to a 17th-place finish overall out of 37 schools, with a total of 431 points. In first was Holy Cross with 83 points followed by Mount Holyoke with 92 points and WPI with 129 points.

The Ravens will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 28, when they host the Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup at Hopkinton State Fairgrounds in Hopkinton, N.H.
