GREENWOOD, Ind. (June 17, 2021) -- Senior libero Ellie Ivanova (Sofia, Bulgaria) of the Franklin Pierce University volleyball team has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District I First Team, as announced last week by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). As a result of the selection, Ivanova will also advance to the Academic All-America ballot.

To be eligible for selection, each student-athlete must own a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average or higher, be at least a sophomore in academic standing and be a starter or significant contributor athletically. The Academic All-District and All-America teams are voted on by sports information directors in the district and nation, respectively.

For traditional fall sports in 2020-21, criteria was altered to allow student-athletes to be nominated based on their career body of work, rather than just the 2020-21 campaign. This temporary change was made due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over two years as a Raven, Ivanova appeared in 30 matches. She piled up 549 digs over 117 sets, which was good for a rate of 4.69 digs per set. Ivanova also served up 40 aces (0.34 per set) along the way. She was an All-Northeast-10 Conference Second Team selection as a junior in 2019. Ivanova posted a 3.78 GPA as a sport and recreation management major.

Academic All-America teams for volleyball are slated to be announced on Tuesday, July 13.
