Volleyball Clipped In Five By Saint Rose
Ristow collects 10-kill, 13-dig double-double

RINDGE, N.H. (October 31,
2009) – Senior Megan Feldmeth (South
Pasadena, Calif.) posted 15 kills and a .464 hitting
percentage and senior Katie Ristow (Miami, Fla.) notched a 10-kill,
13-dig double-double on Saturday afternoon, but the Franklin Pierce
University volleyball team was defeated, 3-2, by Saint Rose in
Northeast-10 Conference play at Franklin Pierce’s Fieldhouse.
Freshman Kayleigh Quinn hammered out a match-best 21 kills to lead
three Saint Rose players in double digits.
The teams alternated set victories throughout, as Saint Rose opened
with a 25-21 victory in the first set before the Ravens evened
things up with a 25-23, second-set victory. Saint Rose won a back
and forth third set, 27-25, and Franklin Pierce again tied it up
with a 25-19 win in the fourth set. Trailing 4-2 in the fifth,
Saint Rose ripped off 13 of the match’s final 18 points to
take the 3-2 victory with a 15-9 win in the fifth set.
With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 7-19 (3-9 Northeast-10),
while Saint Rose improves to 15-12 (5-8 Northeast-10) with the
victory.
For Franklin Pierce, Feldmeth led three Ravens in double digits
with her 15 kills, while senior Caitlynn Parnell (Medina,
Texas) and Ristow added 11 and 10 of their own,
respectively. Junior setter Pamela Walker (Chino Hill,
Calif.) recorded her second-highest assist total of the
season, as she dished out 38 on the afternoon. Defensively, junior
libero Chelsie Kohout (Harrison Township, Mich.)
led the way with 26 digs. Ristow added 13 digs to complete her
double-double, while sophomore Dana Rowinski (Dix Hills,
N.Y.) contributed 10 digs. Feldmeth led all players with
six blocks (one solo) on the afternoon.
For Saint Rose, Quinn (21 kills), sophomore Sarah Kahrs (14) and
senior Jaclyn Griffin (10) all found their way to double digits,
while sophomore setter Theresa Staulo handed out a match-best 54
assists. On the defensive side of the net, senior libero Mary
German led the way with 21 digs and was joined in double digits by
sophomore Marilyn Glamack (10 digs), while junior Kelly Ryan led
the Golden Knights with five block assists.
The Saint Rose offense put the hammer down in the third set. After
hitting .000 with 12 kills and 12 errors over 40 attacks in a
fourth-set loss, the Golden Knights racked up 11 kills to only one
error over 19 fifth-set swings to hit .526 in the decisive set.
Quinn chalked up five kills without an error on eight attempts to
hit .625 and lead Saint Rose in the fifth set.
Earlier, the third set featured back-and-forth action throughout,
as the score was tied seven times. Franklin Pierce rallied from a
21-17 deficit to tie the set at 24-24 on a block by Feldmeth.
However, Saint Rose would take three of the next four points and
took the set, 27-25, on an ace by Glamack.
The Ravens return to the court on Sunday, Nov. 1, when they remain
home to host Le Moyne in a Northeast-10 Conference contest. Match
time is set for 1 p.m. at the Fieldhouse.
