RINDGE, N.H. (May 20, 2009) – Franklin Pierce University has named Stephanie Dragan as head coach of volleyball and senior woman administrator. The announcement was made today by Bruce Kirsh, Vice President and Director of Athletics at the University, and confirmed by President Dr. George J. Hagerty.

(February 9, 2009) – Five Franklin Pierce University student-athletes have been selected to the Northeast-10 Conference All-Academic Team for the fall season, as announced on Feb. 6 by the conference office. Sophomore midfielder Johan Torstensson (Falkoping, Sweden) of the men’s soccer team; senior goalkeeper Brittany Ester (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East), sophomore forward Angelika Johansson (Falkenberg, Sweden) and junior defender Rachel Smith (Chichester, N.H./Bible Baptist (Pa.)) of the women’s soccer team; and senior middle hitter Nicole Buchholz (Broadlands, Va./Stone Bridge) of the volleyball team represented Franklin Pierce among the 75 student-athletes honored by the Northeast-10.

(November 17, 2008) – Seniors Nicole Buchholz (Broadlands, Va./Stone Bridge) and Emily Schultz (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) have each been named to the All-Northeast-10 Conference Second Team, as announced Saturday by the conference office. In addition, senior Karissa Hookstadt (Camarillo, Calif./Adolfo Camarillo) has been selected Third-Team All-Northeast-10. The trio of seniors led the Ravens to their fourth consecutive appearance in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships this season.

(November 10, 2008) – The sixth-seeded Franklin Pierce University volleyball team makes its fourth consecutive appearance in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships on Friday night, when it takes on third-seeded Bentley in a quarterfinal match. The tournament will be hosted by Pace at Goldstein Fitness Center in Pleasantville, N.Y. Friday’s quarterfinal is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., with semifinals and the championship set for Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.

(November 1, 2008) – Senior Nicole Buchholz (Broadlands, Va./Stone Bridge) hammered out 14 kills and racked up 11 blocks (one solo) in the second of two matches on Saturday afternoon to lead the Franklin Pierce University volleyball team to a 3-2 victory over New York Institute of Technology in non-conference play at Franklin Pierce’s Fieldhouse. In the first match of the day, graduate student Rhe-Ann Niles (St. Thomas, Barbados) chalked up 14 kills to lead New Haven to a 3-0 win over Franklin Pierce in a Northeast-10 Conference match.

(October 27, 2008) – The Franklin Pierce University volleyball team, in conjunction with the non-profit Side-Out Foundation, will host its second annual “Dig for the Cure” event on Saturday, Nov. 1, when it hosts New York Institute of Technology at 3 p.m. at Franklin Pierce’s Fieldhouse. Last year’s event collected over $1,000 in donations to benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.

(October 24, 2008) – Senior Karissa Hookstadt (Camarillo, Calif./Adolfo Camarillo), junior Katie Ristow (Miami, Fla./Miami Killian) and senior Emily Schultz (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) all tallied double-doubles on Friday night, but the Franklin Pierce University volleyball team was defeated, 3-2, by Bridgeport in non-conference play at Harvey Hubble Gymnasium. Four Bridgeport players notched double-doubles of their own in the victory.

Six Ravens recorded six or more kills in the match.
