RINDGE, N.H. (October 27, 2008) –
The Franklin Pierce University volleyball team, in conjunction with
the non-profit Side-Out Foundation, will host its second annual
“Dig for the Cure” event on Saturday, Nov. 1, when it
hosts New York Institute of Technology at 3 p.m. at Franklin
Pierce’s Fieldhouse. Last year’s event collected over
$1,000 in donations to benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure
Foundation.
The event is part of the growing “Dig Pink” National
Breast Cancer Awareness Rally. The program is being participated in
by hundreds of high school and collegiate volleyball teams across
the nation this fall.
All fans in attendance are encouraged to wear pink in support of
breast cancer awareness. Those who wish to donate to the cause may
pledge an amount per Franklin Pierce dig in the match or donate a
flat amount when they attend the match on Nov. 1. The Ravens
currently rank sixth in the Northeast-10 Conference with 13.82 digs
per set. All monies raised will benefit breast cancer research
through the Side-Out Foundation.
All fans who both wear pink to the
match and donate to the cause will receive a raffle ticket upon
entrance to the Fieldhouse. The winner of the raffle will have the
opportunity to "Dash for the Cash" and win up to $100 in a
promotion to be held between the second and third sets of the
match.
Those who can not attend the event or wish to donate ahead of time
may do so via the internet by clicking
