RINDGE, N.H. (November 17, 2008)
– Seniors Nicole Buchholz
(Broadlands, Va./Stone Bridge) and Emily Schultz (Salem, Wis./Westosha
Central) have each been named to the All-Northeast-10
Conference Second Team, as announced Saturday by the conference
office. In addition, senior Karissa Hookstadt (Camarillo, Calif./Adolfo
Camarillo) has been selected Third-Team All-Northeast-10.
The trio of seniors led the Ravens to their fourth consecutive
appearance in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships this
season.
Buchholz led a Franklin Pierce offense which finished fourth in the
conference in kills (11.50 per set) and fifth in hitting percentage
(.189). Personally, she led the team in both kills per set (2.61)
and hitting percentage (.285). For Buchholz, the hitting percentage
was a career high, narrowly eclipsing her .281 mark as a sophomore
in 2006. The .285 hitting percentage was also good for seventh in
the Northeast-10. Over the course of the season, Buchholz was named
to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll five times. This
marks her third consecutive selection to the All-Northeast-10
Second Team. With a Third-Team selection as a freshman, Buchholz
garnered All-Conference accolades in each of her four seasons in
Rindge.
Schultz provided another prong to the Franklin Pierce attack
throughout the season. She finished third on the team with 2.08
kills per set, an improvement of over 1.5 kills per set over her
performance as a junior in 2007. A leader on both sides of the net,
Schultz also collected 2.10 digs per set, which ranked third on the
team. During the season, she was twice named to the Northeast-10
Conference Weekly Honor Roll. Schultz finishes her career in Rindge
with her first ever All-Northeast-10 selection.
Hookstadt was also a key component of the Franklin Pierce offense,
serving as the primary setter throughout the campaign. She finished
the season with 9.07 assists per set, which was good for third in
the Northeast-10. In addition, Hookstadt contributed on the
defensive side of the ball with 1.79 digs per set, which ranked
fourth on the team. On the year, she was named Northeast-10
Conference Setter of the Week on Sept. 22 and was also a four-time
selection to the conference’s Weekly Honor Roll. For
Hookstadt, it is the third straight season as a Third-Team
All-Northeast-10 selection.
