PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. (November 14, 2008) – Junior Alex Kearney (La Jolla, Calif./La Jolla) collected 13 kills and 13 digs on Friday night to post a double-double and lead third-seeded Bentley to a 3-0 victory over the sixth-seeded Franklin Pierce University volleyball team in the quarterfinal round of the Northeast-10 Conference Championships, hosted by Pace, at Goldstein Fitness Center. Junior Caitlynn Parnell (Medina, Texas/Medina) led Franklin Pierce in defeat with 10 kills.

Bentley swept through the match with set victories of 25-20, 25-19 and 25-21.

Parnell led the offense for the Ravens with 10 kills on the evening, as she worked off the set of senior Karissa Hookstadt (Camarillo, Calif./Adolfo Camarillo), who dished out 23 assists in her collegiate finale. Defensively, sophomore Chelsie Kohout (Harrison Township, Mich./L’Anse Creuse) led all players with 20 digs while junior Megan Feldmeth (South Pasadena, Calif./South Pasadena) recorded four blocks (one solo).

For Bentley, Kearney led the way with her 13-kill, 13-dig double-double. The Falcons split setting duties throughout the evening, as senior Tori Piskulick (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch) and sophomore Kelly Mee (Ivyland, Pa./Council Rock) recorded 18 and 13 assists, respectively. Defensively, junior Cassie Kraft (New Braunfels, Texas/St. Mary’s Hall) led the way with 16 digs while junior Kristine Mickelson (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch) recorded a match-best six blocks (one solo).

With the loss, Franklin Pierce closes its season with a 17-18 overall record, including an 8-6 mark in Northeast-10 Conference play. Bentley (21-10, 12-2 NE-10) advances to play Merrimack on Saturday in a Northeast-10 semifinal.
