Volleyball Rallies To Down Massachusetts Lowell, 3-2
Three Ravens post double-doubles
Caitlynn Parnell posted an 18-kill, 12-dig double-double on Friday
night at Massachusetts Lowell.

LOWELL, Mass. (November 7, 2008)
– Junior Caitlynn Parnell
(Medina, Texas/Medina) recorded a match-best 18 kills to go
with 12 digs as three Ravens posted double-doubles on Friday night
to lead the Franklin Pierce University volleyball team to a 3-2
victory over Massachusetts Lowell in Northeast-10 conference play
at Costello Athletic Center. Sophomore Sarah Coscia (Pittsfield,
Mass./Pittsfield) led Massachusetts Lowell with 14 kills on the
evening.
The River Hawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead with 25-21 and 25-20
victories in the first and second sets, respectively. However,
Franklin Pierce answered with set wins of 25-19, 25-19 and 15-5 to
rally for the victory.
Parnell led three Ravens in double figures offensively with her 18
kills in the match. Senior Emily
Schultz (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) and sophomore Diana Rutt (Dayton, Nev./Dayton)
helped pace the offense with 15 and 13 kills, respectively. The
attacking trio worked off the set of senior Karissa Hookstadt (Camarillo, Calif./Adolfo
Camarillo), who dished out a match-high 51 assists. Five
Ravens tallied double digits in digs defensively, led by sophomore
Chelsie Kohout (Harrison Township,
Mich./L’Anse Creuse), who led all players with 19.
Among the others in double figures were Schultz, Parnell and
Hookstadt, who completed their double-doubles with 13, 12 and 11
digs, respectively. Junior Megan
Feldmeth (South Pasadena, Calif./South Pasadena) recorded
six block assists for the Ravens.
On the other side, Coscia was the only River Hawk in double digits
offensively with her 14 kills. The offense ran through junior
Nichole Rondeau (Dracut, Mass./Dracut), who led Massachusetts
Lowell with 25 assists. Defensively, senior Kendra Ciccone (Quincy,
Mass./North Quincy) and junior Allie Eide (Gresham, Ore./Gresham)
each collected 12 digs for the River Hawks while junior Elsa
LeGrand (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista) recorded a
match-best seven blocks (one solo).
The Ravens (17-16, 8-5 NE-10) return to the court on Saturday, Nov.
8, when they conclude the regular season by traveling to Stonehill
for a Northeast-10 Conference contest. Match time is scheduled for
1 p.m. at Merkert Gymnasium in Easton, Mass. Massachusetts Lowell
(14-16, 6-7 NE-10) returns to action on Nov. 8 at home against
American International.
