Hookstadt dishes out 42 assists
Karissa Hookstadt handed out a match-high 42 assists on Tuesday
night against Saint Michael's.

Senior Karissa Hookstadt
(Camarillo, Calif./Adolfo Camarillo) distributed a
match-high 42 assists on Tuesday night to lead the Franklin Pierce
University volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Saint
Michael’s in Northeast-10 Conference play at Franklin
Pierce’s Fieldhouse. Six Ravens recorded six or more kills in
the match.
Franklin Pierce swept through the match with set scores of 25-15,
25-18 and 25-21.
For Franklin Pierce, junior Caitlynn Parnell (Medina, Texas/Medina)
led the balanced scoring attack with 10 kills while Hookstadt and
fellow seniors Nicole Buchholz
(Broadlands, Va./Stone Bridge) and Emily Schultz (Salem, Wis./Westosha
Central) all collected eight kills apiece. The offense ran
through the set of Hookstadt all night, as she dished out a
match-best 42 assists. Sophomore Chelsie Kohout (Harrison Township,
Mich./L’Anse Creuse) and junior Katie Ristow (Miami, Fla./Miami
Killian) led the defensive backcourt for the Ravens with 13
and 11 kills, respectively, while Parnell chipped in three blocks
(one solo) up front.
For Saint Michael’s, sophomore Sara Reney (Sunapee,
N.H./Sunapee Middle) led the offense with nine kills and worked
mostly of the set of senior Amy Manougia (Rye, N.H./Portsmouth),
who amassed 26 assists. Senior Stephanie Smetana (Independence,
Mo./Truman) led the defense for the Purple Knights with a
match-high 14 digs while junior Kerry Hill (Andover, Mass./Andover)
recorded a match-best five blocks.
The Ravens (14-14, 7-4 NE-10) return to the court on Friday, Oct.
24, when they travel to Bridgeport for a non-conference contest.
Franklin Pierce returns home for its final home matches of the
season on Nov. 1 against New Haven at 12 p.m. and NYIT at 3 p.m.
Match time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Harvey Hubble Gymnasium in
Bridgeport, Conn. Saint Michael’s (10-11, 1-8 NE-10) returns
to action on Oct. 25 at home against Saint Rose.
