RINDGE, N.H. (October 10, 2006) –
The Franklin Pierce women’s volleyball team collected a key
Northeast-10 Conference victory, defeating Merrimack College, 3-1
(30-27, 21-30, 30-16, 30-24) this evening at the Franklin Pierce
Fieldhouse.
Freshman Caitlynn Parnell
(Medina, Texas/Medina) led a balanced Franklin Pierce
attack, posting a team-high 15 kills to go with 18 digs and three
blocks. Classmate Katie Ristow
(Miami, Fla./Miami Killian SHS) was also solid, earning a
double-double, with a season-high 14 kills and 18 digs. Freshman
Megan Feldmeth (South Pasadena,
Calif./South Pasadena) notched 14 kills, seven digs, and
five blocks to aid the Ravens, while sophomore Nicole Buchholz (Ashburn, Va./Stone
Bridge) rounded out the offensive attack with 12 kills.
Sophomore captain Karissa
Hookstadt (Camarillo, Calif./Camarillo) was strong at the
setter position for Franklin Pierce, dishing out a match-high 50
assists to go with nine digs and four blocks. Senior captain Michelle McConnell (Elora,
Ontario/Centre Wellington) turned a match-high 25 digs to
lead the Raven defense.
Freshman Jordan Giboney (West Linn, OR/Wilsonville) led Merrimack
with a match-high 17 kills and 11 digs, while sophomore Ale
Kuncaitis (Canton, Mass./Canton) chipped in with eight kills, 23
digs, and two blocks. Senior setter Danielle Romeo (Middleton,
Mass./Masconomet) posted 18 assists to pace the Warrior
offense.
Franklin Pierce (12-6, 6-4 NE-10) will be in action again on
Friday as it hosts Southern Connecticut State in the
Northfield’s Activity Center at 7 p.m. Merrimack College
(9-9, 5-4 NE-10) will travel to Southern New Hampshire University
on Sunday at 12 p.m.
