Caitlynn Parnell posted a double-double with 17 digs and a team-best 11 kills at Saint Rose on Saturday.

ALBANY, N.Y. (October 7, 2006) – Franklin Pierce earned a split decision in a volleyball doubleheader hosted by the College of Saint Rose. The Ravens suffered a tough 3-2 (30-25, 22-30, 22-30, 30-27, 10-15) loss to the Golden Knights in today’s first match, before defeating Adelphi University, 3-1 (24-30, 30-19, 30-28, 30-21) in match two.

Franklin Pierce suffered a tough Northeast-10 Conference setback to the College of Saint Rose in today’s opening match of a volleyball doubleheader.

Freshman Caitlynn Parnell (Medina, Texas/Medina) led the Franklin Pierce offense with a team-high 11 kills to go with 17 digs and three assists. Classmate Megan Feldmeth (South Pasadena, Calif./South Pasadena) was also solid, posting ten kills (.429 hitting percentage), three blocks and four service aces.

Sophomore setter pan style="font-weight: bold;">Karissa Hookstadt (Camarillo, Calif./Camarillo) totaled 42 assists and ten digs for the Ravens, while sophomore Emily Schultz (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) and freshman Katie Ristow (Miami, Fla./Miami Killian SHS) chipped in with ten kills apiece.

In game two, Franklin Pierce rebounded with a 3-1, non-conference, victory over Adelphi University.

Freshman Caitlynn Parnell led Franklin Pierce with a match-high 16 kills, two blocks and 18 digs, while sophomore Nicole Buchholz (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) posted 11 kills and five blocks. Freshman Katie Ristow (Miami, Fla./Miami Killian SHS) was also solid, adding 11 kills and 17 digs.

Sophomore captain Karissa Hookstadt (Camarillo, Calif./Camarillo) paced the Franklin Pierce offense, dishing a match-high 48 assists, while senior captain Michelle McConnell (Elora, Ontario/Centre Wellington) was solid defensively, registering a team-high 27 digs.

Franklin Pierce (11-5, 5-3 NE-10) is back in action tomorrow as it travels to Le Moyne College for a Northeast-10 Conference match at 12 p.m. Saint Rose (15-4, 8-0 NE-10) visits Stonehill College on Friday at 7 p.m. Adelphi (11-6, 2-2 ECC) travels to Dowling College on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
