PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. (September 30,
2006) – Franklin Pierce earned a split decision in a
volleyball doubleheader this afternoon on the road. The Ravens
suffered a tough 3-2 (21-30, 26-30, 30-27, 32-30, 15-9) loss to
Northeast-10 Conference foe Pace University in today’s first
match, before defeating Concordia College, 3-1 (30-20, 30-19,
26-30, 30-19) in the nightcap.

Franklin Pierce suffered a tough Northeast-10 Conference loss to
Pace University in today’s opening match of a volleyball
doubleheader.
Pace was led by sophomore Danielle Furka (Massapequa,
NY/Massapequa), who tallied game-highs in kills and digs with 15
and 28 respectively. Freshman Emily Marzan (Park Ridge, NJ/Park
Ridge) recorded a double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs, while
sophomore Korena Johnson (Friendswood, TX/Clear Brook) totaled ten
kills.
Sophomore Nicole Buchholz
(Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) and freshman Katie Ristow (Miami, Fla./Miami Killian
SHS) led the Franklin Pierce attack with 13 kills apiece,
while freshman Caitlynn Parnell
(Medina, Texas/Medina) added 11 kills and 20 digs. Sophomore
setter Karissa Hookstadt
(Camarillo, Calif./Camarillo) dished out a season-best 54
assists to go with five kills and 19 digs, while senior co-captain
Michelle McConnell (Elora,
Ontario/Centre Wellington) chipped in with a team-high 31
digs

In game two, Franklin Pierce rebounded with a 3-1, non-conference,
victory over Concordia College.
Sophomore Emily Schultz (Salem,
Wis./Westosha Central) led Franklin Pierce with a team-high
14 kills, six blocks and nine digs. Classmate Nicole Buchholz (Ashburn, Va./Stone
Bridge) was also solid in the Raven victory, posting 12
kills, seven blocks and two service aces, while freshman Caitlynn Parnell (Medina,
Texas/Medina) collected 11 kills, nine digs and three
service aces.
Sophomore captain Karissa
Hookstadt (Camarillo, Calif./Camarillo) set the tempo for
the Raven offense with a game-high 43 assists, and senior captain
Michelle McConnell (Elora,
Ontario/Centre Wellington) paced the defense with a
game-high 25 digs.
Franklin Pierce (8-4, 4-2 NE-10) is back in action tomorrow as it
travels to the University of Bridgeport for a non-conference match
at 1 p.m. Pace University (6-12, 4-4 NE-10) visits Southern
Connecticut State on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Concordia (4-9, 0-2 ECC)
will host Pace on Thursday at 7 p.m.
